My baby is 6 months old today! What the hell? It feels like a minute ago I was writing about his nursery I had just finished, or re-living his birth story, and now he’s been here for an entire half of a year. Every moment of motherhood is completely overwhelmingly happy and heartbreaking all at the same time. I honestly hate putting him to bed at night because it means he’s going to be another day older. Ok, I am being melodramatic, but I am sure all you other mamas can relate – am I right?
Anyway, it’s been the best, hardest, most trying, happiest, and fastest 6 months of my life. It is hard to believe I lived 29 years without this person in my life. I always say to him, “What did I do before you?” I absolutely love being a mommy (can you tell?). Watching Noah grow into a little person is so amazing to watch, because he the happiest, sweetest, most loving little squish and truly is the biggest joy. We are so, so very blessed.
At 6 months in, here’s what he’s up to:
Weight: 18 lbs, 13 oz
Height: unsure, but he’s long!
Teeth: None, but teething stinks.
Loves: Being outside, Penny, Dash, & Peanut, flirting, playing on the floor, eating, chewing everything
Doesn’t love: Taking baths (unless I am in the tub with him), getting dressed/changed, doing photoshoots (so we’ve learned – see below photos), his jumper
Favorite food: Sweet potatoes and bananas
Favorite toy: Sophie the Giraffe
Favorite animal: Giraffes, and Penny
Favorite game: Pat-a-Cake
Favorite book: Little Blue Truck
Favorite lullaby: You Are My Sunshine
Development: Noah is just starting to sit up on his own. He’s a little chatterbox and loves hearing himself talk (aka squeal and scream). His belly laugh is the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard, and making a “woof” sound is all it takes to get him going. He is grabbing at everything and no longer just sits still. Crawling will definitely be his next milestone because he’s trying his hardest to get around. He’s been holding his own bottle for months, and he even wants to feed himself with a spoon. It’s sad/scary/cute that he’s got his own personality, and I can’t just force him to do whatever I want anymore.
I put so much thought and effort and planning into this 1/2 birthday photoshoot, but Noah just wasn’t feeling it. I was bummed we didn’t get one of his usual smiley self, but they’ll be funny memories for later. He really is such a happy guy, usually!
